Fundraising
Who funds PWPG?
Petts Wood Playgroup receives the 'Funding Early Education' allowance for three and four year olds and receives partial funding for some of our two year olds. However, this covers only a small portion of the funds that the group needs in order to run.
The majority of our funds therefore come from voluntary contributions given by people in the community; people participating in fundraising activities or becoming a 'Friend'. It's the generosity of these people which enables the group to run and to buy new equipment for the children to enjoy...
We welcome all fundraising ideas, no matter how wacky they may be! If you'd like to raise funds for us then please get in touch so we can share the fun!
Every year two of our amazing volunteers and their family organise and run a fabulous weekend of fun for all the family with all of the proceeds going to our playgroup. This year it will be happening on the 9th-11th August and we'd love to see you all there! We'd like to take this opportunity to thank www.fastlabels.co.uk for their very generous donation and support with our advertising for this. For any enquiries about the event please email hollynorrispwpg@outlook.com for further information.
Other fundraising activities that have been organised in the past include:
Line dancing evenings
Quiz nights
Pamper night
Auction night
Christmas cards designed by the children
Smarties tubes filled with coins
In addition, some of our families have:
Cycled from London to Brighton
Taken part in Dragon boat racing
Run 4 half marathons in 4 weeks
Local charities, such as Beckenham Rotary Club - who recently financed the purchasing of new child seats for our minibus - and local companies have also supported the group and contributed to it's upkeep.
If you'd like to make a donation to our group then please get in touch!
What can you do?
I think the reasons for donating to our group can be summed up by this quote from one of our parents:
"The PWPG have played a vital role in the lives of their children including our daughter Olivia. You can never measure the support and time they invest with both parents and children with special needs. Their work and dedication to the children, allows families to get on with their lives and provide important reassurance that their child will always maximise their potential. The volunteers and staff are selfless and organise the complicated strands of local authority care which is difficult for parents to understand and deal with along with the day to day challenges. I think without the PWPG our family and more importantly Olivia would not be where we are now. They are truly an amazing group of people!"
